Prednisone is ruining skin. My skin is all broken. I got 100 mg of prednisone during surgery and am on 60 mg currently. After surgery I was picking at my skin (I know a bad thing) but I believe I was doing it as a result of anxiety! Anyways, my skin reacted with super inflammation. Take a look:,
Any ideas on how to heal this fast?

Hi! My name is Jacquie... you can call me... Jacquie, Jax, Jack, JC, jcrohnie, or whatever other clever nickname you can come up with! :) I am always open to new nicknames. I recently turned 30 and I am not sure how I feel about it yet, lol. I also have Crohn's disease. I was diagnosed when I was 16 years old. It's been a roller coaster ride to say the least. gut-wrenching truth about crohns
Sounds like the goal is to gradually wean of prednisone? That could take some time, but hopefully the symptoms will alleviate as the dose goes down…

Right. Now that I have surgery we can begin to wean off the prednisone – things with the skin may get worse before they get better- but in the future things should clear up

I know how you feel. Prednisone did this to me also plus other things. I’m glad to finally be off of them. I was at 1000mg a day oral and iv. On the days I got an iv, I was getting 2000mg. Had to take 1000mg by mouth everyday and got a 1000mg by Iv 3x per week. Took me a whole year to wean off of them. I know soon I’ll have to start on them again. but I’m enjoying my break right now. I hope you will be able to get off of them soon. It’s a love/hate relationship with prednisone.
